What A Pop Up is and How It Works

A Pop Up is an ad that displays in a new browser window.

Pop up windows come in many different shapes and sizes, typically in a scaled-down browser window with only the Close, Minimize and Maximize commands.

There are two major types of pop up windows.

Entrance pops – these appear when a visitor arrives at your site.

Exit Pops – these appear when a visitor leaves your site.

There is a huge controversy over the use of pop ups on the internet. While some people feel they are an unwanted marketing ploy, the statistics show that they are effective at generating interest. And in a recent report, 72% of internet users surveyed said they accepted limited use of pop ups.

Pop ups are best used to generate sign ups for a mailing or newsletter list. You can also use them as a way to promote a mini course you offer that will teach your prospects more about your product or service.

Either positively or negatively, the fact remains that pop ups are effective at gaining a person’s attention.

To get the true picture of how well your pop up is doing, make sure you pay close attention to conversion rates and return on your investment. Also, experiment with entrance vs. exit pop’s to see which is most effective on your site.
